Bee Gees Receive Music Business Accolade ; The World Today

Current Headlines: THE Bee Gees will be honoured as icons at the Broadcast Music Incorporated (BMI) Music Awards in May.

The band, known for hits spanning 35 years, including Stayin' Alive, Massachusetts and How Deep is Your Love will receive the special honour at the 55th annual awards ceremony on May 15 in Beverly Hills.

The Bee Gees join past honourees including Paul Simon, Merle Haggard, James Brown, Carlos Santana and Dolly Parton.

Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb, who made up the Bee Gees, have received 109 BMI awards, collectively, including Song of the Year for Night Fever.

The special honour will recognise their "unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers," BMI said.
