Theismann Off Monday Games

Mar. 26--The Joe Theismann-Tony Kornheiser chemistry experiment has ended after one awkward season. ESPN will replace Theismann on "Monday Night Football" with Ron Jaworski.

The network also recently hired Bill Parcells and Emmitt Smith as studio analysts and will have Suzy Kolber and Michele Tafoya as the sideline reporters.

A source said ESPN based its decision on performance issues, likely stemming from the tension created by the Theismann-Kornheiser pairing.

Mike Tirico will continue as the show's play-by-play announcer, and Theismann could remain at ESPN in a different role. A source said that the former Redskins quarterback has been offered a high-profile role with the network.
