Father Says Guantanamo Australian Abused By Other Prisoners

Current Headlines: Text of report by Radio Australia on 27 March

David Hicks's father, Terry, says his son pleaded guilty just to get out of Guantanamo Bay. Terry Hicks spent several hours with his son at the naval prison in Cuba. Mr Hicks says his son has put on a great deal of weight and has not been able to exercise because he is abused by other prisoners.

[Terry Hicks] The detainees yell out abuse at him, they say he's being paid by the CIA and all this sort of business to spy on them - that sort of thing. So he's under quite a bit of stress through that. He won't go out into the exercise yards because he's been, as I say he's been abused verbally from the rest of the detainees, so that's not good.
