Springer Goes From 'Dancing' to 'Talent'

Current Headlines: Talk show host Jerry Springer will host the Los Angeles-based America's Got Talent, when the NBC competition series returns for its second season.

The no-hold-barred host will replace Regis Philbin when the show returns this summer.

Springer became something of a darling as a contestant last season in ABC's Dancing With the Stars, when he confided that he entered the competition so he could learn to waltz for his daughter's wedding, the Washington Post said.

Philbin, in a statement, said he had fun working on America's Got Talent, but traveling between his live daily talk show, produced in New York, and Los Angeles was too much.

American Idol judge Simon Cowell, who is the executive producer of America's Got Talent, said in a statement that he was thrilled to have Springer as host.
