Vietnamese PM Calls for Administrative Reforms in Natural Resources Management

Hanoi(VNA) -Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung asked for continued administrative reform in management of natural resources and environment, particularly land, water and mineral resources.

At the first national conference held by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in Hanoi on Feb. 27 to review environmental and natural resources management, PM Dung noted that a reason of prolonged petitions related to land is the complicated administrative procedures, limited skills and corruption among public employees.

The PM said that in addition to strengthening its organization, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has submitted to the government a series of legal documents which will be presented to the National Assembly for approval and issuance in order to complete a legal system for natural resources and environmental management.

PM Dung said that natural resources and environment management is a major matter for a country in the process of national industrialisation and modernisation.

The PM stressed that the only way to ensure the country's growth rate is effective use of natural resources and protecting the environment.

Policies on public management of natural resources and environment, land and minerals should be reviewed and completed in accordance with a developing market economy, and international integration, the PM said.
