Terrestrial Invasive Plants Minnesota Conference

The Minnesota Soil and Water Conservation Society, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Minnesota Department of Agriculture, University of Minnesota-Invasion Biology Research Consortium, Minnesota County of Agricultural Inspectors and the U.S. Forest Service, is announcing a Call for Papers for a Minnesota focused terrestrial plant invasive species conference to be held March 7 and 8, 2007 at the Holiday Inn in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

This conference focuses on detecting or identifying terrestrial invasive species, preventing establishment of such plants, managing or restoring impacted areas, and how to measure success. The expected audience is resource professionals who manage land areas threatened by terrestrial invasive species and need to know what they could be up against, and how to protect or restore their land and gauge success. This call for papers invites researchers, land managers, natural resource professionals, university personnel, landscapers, nursery, agricultural or forestry employees, environmental specialists, and agency volunteers to submit abstracts of their experiences with terrestrial plant invasive species or noxious weeds. Two styles of presentations are offered; halt-hour topical seminar or half-hour case study. Speakers may submit a presentation for one or both styles.

Call for Papers Deadline is November 15, 2006. For more information, contact Ginger Kopp at 651-602-7909 or email: ginger.kopp@mn.usda.gov.

The Society's annual conference brings together researchers, practitioners, and policymakers at all levels of government, business, and nongovernmental organizations to explore current issues in conservation and environmental management science, technology, practice, programs, and policy.
