Ministries

Ministry for Culture and Heritage - - Provides advice to the New Zealand Government on culture and heritage matters and assists Government in its provision and management of cultural resources for the benefit of all New Zealanders.

Ministry of Education - - Not a provider of education, the purpose is support and facilitative rather than directive.

Ministry of Fisheries - - The over-riding purpose is to ensure that the use of New Zealand's fisheries resource is sustainable. Provides policy advice to the Government.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade - - Conducts the Government's business with foreign countries and their governments, and with international organisations.

Ministry of Housing - - The Ministry's principal functions are to receive and invest bond monies from residential tenancies, and to refund them when lawfully due; and to provide information, advice and a service to resolve disputes between tenants and landlords.

Ministry of Maori Development: Te Puni Kokiri - - The Government's principal adviser on the Crown's relationship with iwi, hapu and Maori, and on key Government policies as they affect Maori.
